But now it’s clear the icon’s latest, and last, album is an insight into the secret journey Bowie had taken over the 18 months since he was diagnosed with cancer.

Lazarus, the second single to be released from the album, was released just days before Bowie passed away along with a video directed by Johan Renck.
Renck described the experience of interpreting Bowie’s music as ‘profound’.
“One could only dream about collaborating with a mind like that; let alone twice,” he said.
“Intuitive, playful, mysterious and profound… I have no desire to do any more videos knowing the process never ever gets as formidable and fulfilling as this was.
“I’ve basically touched the sun.”
