This year’s Alliance Française French Film Festival is right around the corner, and we’re giving away tickets to celebrate!
Cinemagoers will be treated to a selection of 47 features, 2 documentaries and a Parisian television series in the 29th annual film festival, which will once again be touring Palace Cinemas around Australia from late February until mid-April.
Themes of courage, friendship and egalitarianism were key to Festival Artistic Director Philippe Platel’s picks this year. Australia’s recent, historic ‘Yes’ vote for same-sex marriage will also be celebrated in an LGBT strand – a first for the festival.
Among the highlights: C’est la vie! (Le sens de la fête), a comedy from The Intouchables helmers Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache; BPM (Beats Per Minute), the award-winning drama that places a spotlight on those fighting indefference to the AIDS epidemic in the early ’90s; Ismael’s Ghosts, starring Oscar winner Marion Cotillard and Charlotte Gainsbourg; and Let the Sun Shine In, the acclaimed drama starring Oscar winner Juliette Binoche and directed by Claire Denis.
