Good news wildlife lovers. Steve Backshall of Deadly 60 TV fame, will arrive in Melbourne this coming January 2016. See Deadly 60 Live at Arts Centre Melbourne.

Steve Backshall is known for his courageous global travels in search of the world's most deadly animals. His documented expeditions have taken him to all corners of the globe, from the highest mountain peaks and down into the depths of the ocean. Steve's has explored dense rainforests, remote islands, arid land and everywhere in-between.

The TV star's adventures have taken him to meet the world's most venomous snakes and spiders including Baja rattlesnakes, and tarantulas. He has encountered and hawk wasps, the Humboldt squid, wolf eels and flesh-eating cockroaches. The fearless presenter has swum with a great white shark in South Africa, a bull shark in Mexican waters, and been attacked by a caiman in Argentina. All of this is documented in BBC Earth's popular kid's TV show and documentary Deadly 60 , on which this live show at Arts Centre Melbourne is based.

Deadly 60 can be seen Mondays-Saturdays at 8.00pm and weekends at 3.00pm on ABC3.

Steve Backshall is also an accomplished author, having published many books in the Deadly 60 series. He has contributed to the Indonesian Rough Guide. During his time in Southeast Asia, the famed TV presenter managed to escape crossfire in East Timor. A trip out to the islands of Indonesia, also saw Steve come nose-to-nose with the great Kimono dragon.

If that isn't enough to inspire you and your children, taking it back a decade or so and the Exeter University graduate (graduating in English and Theatre studies) travelled to Japan to study martial arts, and left with a black belt in Judo. Phew.

Deadly 60 Live is your chance to take a journey with Steve, in the Arts Centre Melbourne's Hamer Hall. This is Steve's first ever Australian tour, in which the TV star will take you on your own wildlife journey, showing special footage of his most famous expeditions. Write a list, because the wildlife and travel adventurer will be ready to answer your questions about the making of his popular BBC Earth series.

"Backshall is just so, so, so excited about the creatures he has encountered, and his enthusiasm is infectious. Pretty soon, you'll be feeling totally invigorated and excited about life." Time Magazine.
