Laser Portable DVD Player

Review of the Laser Portable DVD Player & Giveaway

We are always on the road as a family. From weekends aways to travelling to grandparents house to driving to various kids parties and classes, so we were keen to test out the Laser Portable DVD Player out on Mia. We are also giving away a Laser Portable DVD Player to one lucky family!

What we love about it?

  • Reads different movie formats – I love that it not only plays DVD’s but also reads USB and SD cards. We save a lot of our movies on a USB stick and we also have a bunch of DVD’s that Mia loves. So it’s great that the DVD player gives us the option to play both.
  • Easy to mount – The universal headrest pouch is the best and easily attaches to the back of the front seats for your kids to be able to watch the portable DVD. Super easy to mount and take off. It also doubles as a carry case, which Mia is more than happy to carry around like a backpack.
  • Remote control – The other useful item is the remote control. Mia at the age of 3, doesn’t know which button to press on the portable DVD player, so it’s great that I can play or stop the movie with the remote from the front seat of the car and she can happily continue to watch her movie.
  • Can be played on a TV or monitor – It’s also fabulous if you go away and the TV in the accommodation you are staying at doesn’t have a DVD player or the ability to read USB sticks (which many older TV’s don’t have that capability). You can get the portable DVD player to play the movie on a monitor or TV with the AV cables that are supplied.
  • Added extras – It also comes along with some handy items like, earphones, rechargeable battery and a car charger.

We find it keeps Mia entertained in the back of the car whether we are on a long or short road trip. She also loves being responsible for her DVD player as she carries it to the car and back home when it needs to get recharged.

I can also see this being very useful for when we go on domestic flights. Domestic flights don’t usually have TV entertainment for the kids, so this is super lightweight and easy to carry onboard. We will definitely be taking this along with us on our next domestic flight.

Why is it better than just handing them the iPad/phone?

When you give the kids your phone, they will be draining your mobile data as well as your battery.

Giving the kids the iPad can also mean they are using up data (which can get expensive). I also don’t like downloading movies on the iPad because it uses up so much memory. This is why we usually save movies on a USB stick or buy DVD’s. I prefer to use the memory in the iPad for educational apps for the kids or for things like photos and videos of the kids.

  1. This is a great idea. We have been having to convert the formats over on so many movies for the kids to watch. Also we can only use a USB stick. And what a great idea having the remote. The ones we have do not have one. Sounds like an excellent product.

  2. We generally do 2-3 road trips a year with Miss (nearly) 3 so this Laser Portable DVD Player would be a God send! Would prevent the inevitable “Mummy I want Youuuuuu Tuuuuuube” whine!

  3. This would be great for the kids, not so much in the car for my children as I like them to look out the window and ask questions about what they see which engages them in conversation. But it would certainly come in handy at home for when it is quiet time for my children. The only way we can play a DVD is through an X-Box which is very annoying and restricted to one room. This laser DVD would also allow me to let the children watch a DVD whilst being in their room.

  4. I’ll be hearing Mr Maker from the front seat and probably have plans to get crafty before we get home hahaha

  5. Paw patrol and peppa pig get equal viewing time at home, so I can see them being top picks for long car trips!

  6. I got a new car recently, so having a player would be awesome, especially since right now my car has no way to entertain the kids.

  7. My Pet Monster, a childhood fave from the 80’s which my youngest now loves, I’m so glad I was able to find a copy for my little ones to watch as much as they want now!

  8. Awesome prize just what we need for the car for the long trips to the city for my lo doctors appointments

  9. This would be fantastic for the many hospital stays.im really in love with this contraption

  10. I know my son would have Les miserables on repeat as he loves all the singing by Hugh Jackman and other cast.

  11. Wish I had come across this for our recent travel overseas. My son loves and only watches Blippi who posts videos with YouTube so if your out of wifi then downloads and DVDs is the only way to see him. Definitely need this DVD player in my life.

  12. We’re headed to Nz to visit family soon. We’ll be flying with our two Littles who are both under 20months! My toddler would have ‘Thomas and friends Christmas on Sodor’ playing on repeat over and over again – toot toot. It HAS to be the Thomas the tank engine Christmas DVD as nothing else will do for him!

  13. We’ve got through 5 years without a DVD player or iPad for car trips, but now with a 5, 3 and 1 year old (and living in regional NSW, 6 hours away from family!) I think the time has come to invest! Love the idea of having a specific device like the Laser and the ability to use USBs. Super clever!

  14. My kids are always arguing and wanting something to do in the car and this would help turn our long journey into shorter ones

  15. Depending on who would be using it. The oldest one would be watching Teen Titans and the youngest would be watch Paw Patrol….

  16. Moana and Minions on repeat all the time!
They love those movies and lucky so do I!!

  17. We couldn’t afford the Dora the Explorer dvd’s so we got the kids a few Diego dvd’s. He’s Dora’s cousin and does exactly the same as she. The kids love them so much and Miss 5 thinks she can speak another language now!!

  18. My 4 young Nieces love PJ Masks, Paw Patrol and Frozen so these are always on Repeat which can drive the adults Crazy at times!

  19. Little 5 year old loves Beauty and the Beast – her favourite character is Belle

  20. My kids love all Disney movies especially Frozen, this would keep them entertained for those long trips.

  21. Wonderful product for road trip holidays with lengthy periods in the car. Do wonders in our household.

  22. They will play PJ masks non stop for sure. They love playing heroes and save the day. It’s very cute to watch miss 4 and mister 2 roleplaying as heroes, something I will greatly missed when they have grown up.

  23. All 3 have mine have loved Toy Story and Ice Age but the current favourite ON REPEAT would have to be Boss Baby…and now there is a new one for us to watch…over and over and over… 😀

  24. The Greatest Showman is on repeat in my household. It’s a delightful musical and we love singing along 🙂

  25. “The Croods”, are my kids favourite movie of late. If they could watch it back and forth non stop, I’m sure they would.

  26. Looks like an awesome bit of kit, and our DVD player has just stopped working. Perfect timing.

  27. Posting again as I can’t seem to find my original comment.

I’d love to replace our broken DVD with this laser beauty.

  28. Spiderman, the boys just love it and have watched it that many times so a repeat button would be perfect.

  29. These would be a godsend when travelling – they love watching that frozen and the time in the car flies away – so durable and portable

  30. Our Master Will would have Sunny Bunnies or Ben and Holly’s little kingdom on repeat…constant repeat haha

  31. Peppa Pig! Peppa and her family always go on adventures and now my little one will be going on her own with Peppa in the car (like a 4D rollercoaster ride)!

  32. I have two grandchildren that absolutely love the Wiggles so we can have crazy sing a longs together I will be one very popular Nana

  33. My kids are currently mad for School of Rock. It’s not a bad movie but I get Jack Black’s ridiculous song stuck in my head!

  34. WOW! fun entertainment without eating into my phone’s data and battery, that’s AWESOME! Roadtrips, flights and hotel downtime entertainment are all covered too with this handy little device, I don’t think I’ll ever hear my kids say ARE WE THERE YET ot I’M BORED if they had a Laser portable DVD player!

  35. It would be Monster High Boo York Boo York musical movie and I know all the lyrics to every song in too.

  36. oh this looks so amazing. love that it plays usbs. would really love to win this to keep my boys entertained in the back seat instead of arguing with one another
