ASUS Transformer TP200 review

ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP200

The Asus Book TP200 notebook offers the versatility of a laptop and a tablet combined.

Utilise it as a Laptop easily by lifting the screen open to enjoy complete laptop functionality including an easy to use keyboard and screen with good definition. To convert to tablet mode, simply flip the screen over to the back of the computer and you can quickly and easily browse with ease.

I like how the ASUS TP200 offers an affordable dual purpose computer which is convenient for typical family processes; at times needing the functionality of a computer for assignments, bill paying or emails and at other times; simply wanting an easy to use tablet whilst surfing the net on the couch.

While offering families an affordable laptop, the ASUS Transformer Book TP200 doesn’t look or feel cheap in any way.

The computer itself will fulfil most of the user’s computer needs users like web browsing, document creation and more. The processor within the TP200 can be a little slow and the storage is limited, however for most families and certainly if utilising this as a children’s computer it should be adequate.

The compact size, shape and light weight of the computer is ideal for mums as it will easily fit into larger handbags or nappy bags. This is great if you want to take it with you to browse while at the park or to simply take care of work issues while enabling your children to have fun at a play centre or elsewhere.

Switching it to tablet mode is as simple as turning the screen over to lie flat against the bottom of the laptop. The computer then prompts you to ask if you would like to use it in tablet mode. You can adjust the settings so that you tell it, it asks you, or it just knows. I like being prompted in case I do not wish to use it as a tablet or for quick and easy switch over back to a laptop.

When using it as a tablet, the thin design and compact shape helps it look and feel similar to a traditional tablet. In Tablet mode, the TP200 didn’t have any issues or get confused over which link we wanted to press (even with my husband’s bigger fingers) and whilst browsing we found it to have good wireless connectivity.

As a laptop, the buttons are easy to use and the mouse is not overly sensitive so it doesn’t react to your hand as you type (which can drive you crazy). I found it easy to use in Laptop mode and enjoyed the ability to choose the mode to suit my needs. Also within the Laptop mode you still have touch screen functionality which is a great feature and ads to the simplicity of using the computer.

The dual ability provided by the ASUS Transformer Book TP200 and the fact that it comes bundled with Microsoft 365P makes it a great children’s computer especially for the older children as they love having the latest tech while the functionality means that their work will not be compromised.

At only $499 I think the ASUS TP200 offers a great priced computer suitable for families, children’s school work and day to day computer requirements.
