I cashed in my comp points and haven't seen any payment yet. I have written several emails to no avail. Do you ever get paid on this site or is it one of those sites they warn you against?
@admin , hey mighty admin, I've submitted my compbux last week( which will help pay for cow feed ) and have noticed you also have not yet seen my love letter of gratitude, mate thanks in advance, helps take our minds off this horrible drought, happy days :)
I am sure admin will be obviously reading these posts and hopefully honour the compbux redeemed, I mean who will do surveys ect. If people are not being paid. I am reluctant to do any if rewards are not being honoured. I will sit back and wait and see what happens!! Happy comping fellow compers!!!
What's the story with doing Surveys on this site? I just spent about 15mins completing the questions and then it came up saying I was not suitable. Not happy Jan :(
OMG, the same happened to me, what a waste of time. And still offering 75pts if you quality. I thought that amount of points offered for doing surveys was to increase when ditching the leaderboard. Will take forever to get any where now :-(
Must admit I wasn't pleased to spend time answering a lot of questions to then be told I didn't qualify. They need to do more work on their screening questions and I guess I will only get a token number of points. Will be seriously reconsidering doing future surveys.
@admin what about issues with compbux not being paid? Seems to be a few of them, I don't have much incentive to do them if this is the case, I say this with respect and no malice as I really do appreciate the opportunities on this site :)
I am just about at that point where I will ditch surveys. It seems most of them are run by shysters who ask a lot of questions and then get out of paying the surveyed for their time by telling them they don't qualify. I like it when too when I go to a survey and then before I get a chance to do anything - I am told I don't qualify - how would they know if I ain't answered one single question? Then - there is the reward. What are the average pay rates in Oz per hour these days? Surely more than 75c (or its equivalent in points). My only hope is that I might still be alive to be able to redeem my points after about 35 years.
@surferboy83 Thanks. That's the 2nd time in about a month won the Loot League. Considering around 350 participants each week I must be doing something right. :)
It's a sad day. It was probably one of the things that united all the nice active members. Maybe with any luck, they will bring it back in the future. Good luck with the guessing game.
Without the leaderboard, this website is not the same. Even though I never got first, second, third, fourth or even fifth place at the end of the month, I liked to visit this website daily to see how many daily points I would get. Most of the time was under 5 for some reason :(
I also never won anything with the daily guesses, but I still guessed numbers every day just for the sake of getting 50 points in order to accumulate points for the leaderboard score. Now I can't see the point of doing that either because if the tradition continues, I will never guess the winning number anyway.
I am not sure what other members feel like, but I would like the leaderboard to get back......so there is a reason for me to visit competitions' website every day.
Ascompet - how about for the competitions?? Is that a reason to visit competitions website every day. Isn't that the whole point of this site, to know/learn about and possibly enter the competitions!
volverine, even I don't have much time as I work 7 days a week, I still like to enter competitions during my coffee time :). But there are so many different websites with listed competitions, and I might be wrong, but having the leader-board was what differentiated Competitions.com.au from other comping websites. And also, created some form of 'daily or regular' compers here - at least in my opinion.
@Ascompet I agree with all that. Member exclusive competitions tend to attract members and keep them active. I have a few regular member exclusive competitions I do. It seems to be my forte/luck picking up a few wins from those this last year.
The leaderboard displayed the most active members and compers and got some great comping buddies from that. They tend to a lot nicer than picking up random social media comping contacts. Yeah, the daily points were something to look forward to an "instant coffee" and pick me up (well some days).
@wolverine Hmm for the quality or number of competitions there's a lot of competition out there from other comp sites. My general opinion there's a bit of delay of at least a few days when most competitions are already well circulated. That at times can crucially affect your chances of winning. For that reason, I don't usually pay that close attention to the competitions posted. Doing the leaderboard at least more likely to notice something interesting I've overlooked.
Eg Has the Eftpos comp been posted? Checking myself I can't see it listed. Entries started March 1st and Eftpos Australia gave a few days notice before it became active for entries. Considering it's enormous prize pool would expect it to be already posted.
For some competitions getting in early before the mass of entries can vastly improve your chances. Plus fully understanding the T&C's helps towards how to maximize your chances or know what's required to potentially pick up a win or two, three......
There's still the guessing game, however, as shown by a lot of winners just do that and don't interact with the rest of site. It did have some attraction with the double guesses related to the leaderboard. Now that even that's lure has gone so it's a lot less attractive to return daily.
The site does have some pluses like it's format, ease of use and the forum for exchanging ideas. The leaderboard encouraged members to return daily and keep active. That in turn, promoted the social aspect to check out the forum. More importantly, it attracted members towards the featured competitions which help the site generate an income. Remember all competitions are about the promoter. :)
@wolverine Will start with Ozbargain. I post a few on occasions. Usually, around 20+ competitions a day are posted most times ASAP. Its' disadvantage would be it's based on the voluntary posting by members. Thankfully there some dedicated members.
They're a few others eg Lottos site which is paid. I don't like the format of that site. It looks like something out of the stone age. Considering members pay they could direct some funds towards a renovation. I don't use the site. There's a couple of other paid ones I can't recall off the top of my head. Personally, I wouldn't pay for any of them.
Freebies.com http://signup.freebies.com/global/refer?refer=196236 my referral gives extra points for the member exclusive comp and its monthly leaderboard. Lately, I not trying hard for that. I play it strategically once in a while. I'm saving up points for a month down the track after a top 10 mid last year. That has some Aussie comps there. I don't pay close attention to those. I.e. too many sources of comps.
That's a small list Ozbargain probably the best of the lot. They also have sections for freebies worth checking out regularly.
For FB competitions keeping a rough eye on what's circulating. FB is where most probably finding competitions. I.e. most promoters will post competitions there. From there they circulate about. You could do the same for other social media. That process can be bit more legwork. There are pros and cons for all comp sites. If it's listed means it's probably well circulated. In January most of my wins were from "off-radar" comps with relatively low entry. (less than 50). This year I've generally changed tactic and on occasions focus more on those more likely to win.
There are tons more including international sites I used to regularly check. It's too exhausting to regularly check them. Some automation might solve that one day. I've just resumed working on that. It helps now that I've got decent PC. It's slow and steady process. Somewhere in my bookmarks probably got dozens to potentially thousands of regular locations could be keeping an eye out. Argh, my bookmarks are extensive and have a life of there own. A rightful mess.
That what was mainly working on for "few" months last year. Not just the interface to help manage what I've entered but a system to help collate competitions to enter. If really trying to keep on the ball for competitions of interest it's a lot of legwork checking various regular locations. Potentially could do things like highlight "off-radar" competitions worth entering, that's if they stay that way. Also, things like reminders for daily entries or store my creative entries for future inspiration. Gee I've got a lot of ideas on the back burner. At the moment getting core things required down pat.
I'll have to properly go through my bookmarks to see what decent sites/links I've accumulated. Some I might have got around to putting into a database which potentially could be integrated.
@Lemond and @Volverine, maybe it is worth to mention that Ozbargain's members also use their referral links to gain bonus points when entering competitions. In my opinion, that also create some sort of comping community there
I am super excited! Since joining this community late last September I have won a $20,000 travel package with Jetstar ($10,000 in flight vouchers, $5000 spending money and $5000 in hotel vouchers) which we have received and booked to go to Hawaii for 3 weeks and Vietnam 2019 for a month! Plus a sprinkler from Gardena and most recently a $100 Salmon Hamper from Huon Salmon in Tasmania. 3 prizes in 5 months isnt too bad I think. I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for this site and making it so easy to enter competitions - I am hooked now!
Hmm and the really bad news to cash out without losing any compbux in the exchange rates at $100, well you need a lot of valid surveys or get lucky on the guessing game a couple of times. If you got a bit of spare Compbux you should be able to exchange for $50. Guess will remove the site from the bookmark bar.
If you're looking for some extra points, you can earn them by being featured on the competition.com.au blog. Its a quick questionnaire emailed to you about your wins, losses and everything competition related.
Click link and will take you to the album of entries and hers should pop up. It's a Dragon drawing. Thank you. Please let me know if the link isn't working.
Found a comp for washing machine Speedqueen http://www.thanksamillionaustralia.com.au/ I did go to the official website speedqueen.com.au and it is a comp. Ends February 15
Did anyone happen to get the code word for "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here" on Sunday night. I watched the whole show and nope, no code word relating to the tenplay competition advertised.
I've Won
| BYOjet - Win a trip to Singapore, New Zealand or a BYOjet Travel Voucher
Just letting you guys know real people do actually win like and share competitions. I entered this one and found out on Thursday night that I won the first prize -flights to Singapore. Excited is an understatement!
Still just one guess once again - certainly an issue that keeps happening which I hope will be rectified one day soon, It seems to happen every time! I am also missing guessing game points too!!
I have started my 4th 1000 comp challenge. Entering 20 comps a day for 50 days. If you want to follow along I am posting the 20 comps I am entering at this page - https://www.facebook.com/WinAndGrin/
@Smalot11 It must be sitting at your place if can already see it. haha :)
Yeah, it's off to a good start with winning two "skilled" based competitions. That's 2 more then I had, period! Well, a touch of luck with both. Not much luck on the random draws so far.
I haven't been keeping a close eye out for washing machines. Can't recall seeing many about guess can think of two. One random and one creative for a $1000 voucher which almost forgot, however for the cost of their machines you still need some decent cash.
So far this year just tech prizes the headphones and to be confirmed by this arvo a $200 keyboard. The keyboard is a weekly leaderboard comp. Just checking that now I'll preemptively call the win with only a few hours to go as have a clear lead. :)
Haha yes the washing machine I won last year is going very well :) That's great news on the keyboard, let me know this afternoon when your announced as the winner. I'm yet to win a creative entry this year but did get lucky in a random draw from coca cola and won a $250 Red Balloon voucher.
@Smalot11 lol. Comping can be too funny at times. Had one funny moment on the weekend when passed on a comp to a nice contact and they won.
I won that leaderboard comp for a nice keyboard, thou haven't got the confirmation email yet. Just reading any fine print it might be a few days until they confirm the winners. Keeping an eye out for those elusive winning emails is always "fun". At least for site membership style competitions, I know when expecting a winning email.
Was for a global competition were pick at least 10 ESport winners each week for 1 of 3 tech prizes. You might recognize the details from a few months back, promoted via gleam comp when they also had additional small PayPal prizes. Been doing for a while, working out some sort of strategy. Knowing which teams not to pick against, understanding the points system or just blind luck always helps. Considering won with more loses then winning picks a combination of all three. :)
Known for a few days was an excellent chance of winning or top 3 at worse, waiting for any late charges up the leaderboard. In hindsight, probably could've held off one for an easy pick.
I've done quite well in the last year on the exclusive member leaderboard competitions. It must be my forte. lmao
Congrats on the Red Balloon I noticed that was purchase competition a couple of weeks and left an upvote. I've avoided Red Balloon as didn't realize what can use the vouchers for.
I had a quick peek at the page looks you've got things well organized to keep on top of things, makes for a nice FB notepad to help to check back etc. I've done similar in the past with a summary style using just a few posts for various categories and an overall list in the past. Then within the comments put each individual comp. It was a bit of work maintaining it and summaries were sorted according to the date closed. I might resume it one day when got things automated a touch.
When you've hundreds of comps there's a lot of scrolling, if using hashtags that might help quickly locate the comp looking for. I've used unique hashtags for that purpose. The scrolling now isn't such a big issue with the faster PC however, with the old PC that was a royal pain. A pinned post is great to say put a summary up. I don't think can pin multiple posts and annoying if got a few posts always want towards the top of a page. You can bump them up. I was constantly doing that every time did a batch of updates.
Hmm, could be some reservations which mentioned on why someone might not winning as often. Sometimes good intentions can be taken advantage of. It depends on whether the pros outway the cons. Generally, nothing to worry about too much, more to aware of and might consider for those ODD occasions. Eg the headphone comp and the one a contact won on the weekend had to consider those factors.
@Smalot11 Thanks. Update for the keyboard they cant send to Australia despite the contact themselves was an Aussie, instead they award roughly $140 via PayPal. That will be towards the washing machine fund.
I'll keep on plugging away with that comp as it's weekly and cash. 3x52 chances at a leaderboard comp. Woot!!!! Mind you about 500 participants. That should brigde those winning gaps between leaderboards. :)
Totally agree, prefer the PayPal for more urgent needs, they paid 75% value of the keyboard. Thou in Australia it retails around $200-250.
Four cash & groceries wins in a week. I've never had such a roll. Should thank who posted regarding not winning as much that got me thinking. Plus having the new PC helps heaps.
@Lemond little fish are sweet as they say, nice work buddy, love reading about the booty, big and small, keeps da wheels turning, although the revolutions are getting bigger, regards :)
@Trevsta Thanks :). Yeah chipping away. Still not bad for a week around $300 in cash/groceries. Think my run of the leaderboard has dried up and need to start looking elsewhere rattling the tin can.
Be nice to get one of the decent cash ones however they generally get heaps of attention. There were less than 10 entries, so I better odds at that then decent daily random points today. A bit of luck and made a fair bit of it by doing some legwork scrounging around. That's only half the challenge.
Would have won close to $1,000 in cash & Coles/Myer in the last 12 months, a good portion from my sponsors Competitions.com.au and Eftpos :)
Does anyone know of competitions on that are on Twitter. All the ones i have seen are all international, i can't seem to find any in Australia. Thank you
Yes, that's what i had noticed. Thank you. Also Bet365 on Twitter are running a comp for big bash. Just a follow and a retweet. I have already won twice. $75 and then $50. You just pick what you think the highest top batsmans score will be. If you guess the correct score you win. Starts at $50 and goes up $25 each time. It goes into your online Bet365 account, and you can withdraw the funds, so you do not have to bet that money. Unsure if you don't have an account and what happens then, I'd say that they would deposit funds in your bank. If i do happen to find to find any comps, i will post them here for other people
@Smalot11 I chat with a bunch of UK compers will ask them how often they use Twitter. I do notice a lot of USA and UK twitter comps in the feed. Argh sorting through various social media looking for nice international ones takes time.
@WillWin1Day Hmm for Aussie comps just on twitter. I don't use twitter enough mainly due it takes dedication to juggle competitions across multiple social media. On average just a few exclusive twitter comps each month. I'd probably find more via Youtube then Twitter. Usually, most are run across or advertised on multiple social media, mainly due to they're focussed on funding their Youtube and Twitch channels. Twitch there you go another untapped social media to scrounge for competitions. Also will add Discord.
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, Twitch and Discord that's a juggling act.
Reminds me got one on Discord to complete ASAP. :)
@WillWin1Day Probably the biggest factor you don't see many Aussie Twitter comps it helps if you're in touch with what's circulating about. I could go scrounging about and bound to stumble across a few. Most times it's a matter of knowing where to start looking. Following the trail of breadcrumbs usually leads to an ants nest. :)
Thanks heaps. Twitter seems to be my friend(touch wood) I have won 3 things so far, all from Twitter. $125 on my betting account, and yesterday wanderers vs Pheonix tickets with 3 of my mates in a corperate box! I only started doing comps roughly 6 weeks ago! Just don't want to get to hyped up with comps, because i know, you can't win them all. Although i did have an issue with my twitter account twice, due to improper use, so gathered i was following and retweeted comps constantly for all different things, so just be aware, that don't do follows often, as they can limit your use and potentially ban you. As you said, follow the bread crumbs, and that's what i do now, so definitely good advice there for other people to use!
@Admin. I cashed in points last week to go into my paypal account. The msg on the screen said will be processed in 1 or 2 days., yet still not received. Last time, it took weeks and weeks for the payment to come through after a lot of emails and messages. Please can you process the transaction asap, otherwise why bother with the point system.
I'll give a week or two. I can't recall how long the last time took in December. By the time it goes to Paypal then to the bank account allow a few weeks. It just goes into my account for paying bills. It used to be a lot easier and quicker.
Any luck the @admin will notice and process it ASAP for you. :)
Thanks @Lemond, last time took a lot longer than usual, apparently my cash-out got misplaced :-( So this time I thought I would chase it up earlier. When it was finally processed last time, it showed up in my paypal straight away, and was in my bank account the next morning.
wow I would love to be getting points often enough to cash them in as regularly as you two, let alone making note of how long it takes to get your money. (not complaining or moaning just noticing, that's all) (or asking for tips EITHER for that matter)
@wolverine lmao. Well, it took ages to win the first time. With luck, you get your droughts then win in batches at times.
I had Compbuxs waiting to reach the $50 level which sat on for ages from a couple of 3rd's. You lose too many Compbux cashing out at the $30 level. It could be while before I reach that level again.
You know how it is with bills that need to be paid, they don't wait. Just hope it sorts out quickly for @Try2win.
haha, some lucky number guesses @wolverine. Last time when I did cash in, turned out it was just 'deleted', by accident :( and yep have now been paid the latest one, thanks @admin.
Woot won my first creative competition for a pair of nice $340 headphones.
Reading and understand the terms and conditions DOES make a difference as was judged the most "creative" by default. Everyone else answered incorretctly for one part of the question and were either distracted by the prize, copied from the first response thinking it was correct or didn't read the T&C's clearly. I'll chalk down the win to the ability to read the T&C's.
Thou if I had read them a touch more thoroughly would of realised it's pick up interstate. It was an Australian wide competition and just didn't notice way down the bottom of the T&C's regarding pick up instore and no stores in my state. Currently waiting back on if they will post or need to organise pickup.
There's lesson there somewhere always read all of the T&C's. :)
Agree it's an awesome prize will go well with my iPad Pro won and been meaning to get headphones for it. I've got a lot of other priorities. X fingers winning a washing machine or cash.
Hopefully they will post or at worse need to organise delivery. They still haven't read my message and will probably sort itself out Monday.
Was commical for my first creative win. Might as well do it in style with a "Steven Bradury" moment. Any members got any funny competition stories to add? :)
My answer was inspired by the lyrics to Stay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h--P8HzYZ74 to fit the competition questions and creativity. Towards the question being what do you think they're listening to in the silent TV commercial. Reading between the lines, my response reads like "If you've read the T&C's and checked what they sell online you would know the answer." They also they dropped a hint "How observant are you? Usually I'm thourough reading all of the T&C's, the irony. hahaha
There were 3 prizes for Beats headphones the other winners were decided soley on creativity from everyone who all stated the incorrect answer to what headphones they were wearing. I can't belive everyone else just went with what the prize was even thou didn't look like what was in video. Thou I put a "touch" of effort in. They mentioned it was too long to repost the winner's response. I couldn't help myself and added a dozen reasons why as well. Was wise that changed the lyric to a dozen reasons from a thousand. lmao
Also if anyone has been in that predictament, where are required to pickup and it's physically impossible, what solutions they have used or what to avoid?
Bit before Christmas won a prize, turned out pick-up only, luckily my sister lived just 5 minutes up the road and they let her pick it up for me. Hope they either post or let someone pick it up for you.
Yes I seem to get 2 guesses at beginning of week. All good though, cant complain, although I still never win. I guess will be discontinued anyway now that leaderboard is going
Why are some competitions giving away flights and only ONE night's accomodation. I don''t get it. The flights maybe delayed and then you can barely enjoy your holiday.
I saw one with flights, one nights accommodation and tickets to a sporting event and dinner. You can't attend both.
Just wondering. I used to win say 10-15 prizes a month. I'm doing nothing different now but lucky to get 1. Over time do people notice the same thing, is it time to change my email address or are there so many people doing competitions now the golden days are over? Thanks!
Not much to go on apart from not winning as many prizes.
You might need to reinvent your "strategy" and sounds like resting on previous laurels and require to find new "hunting ground". Initially a promoter might be off radar thou that doesn't last forever. There can may various reason why having less success apart from increase in participants. With a bit legwork can still find "off radar" competitions, the challenge might be keeping those low key or praying they get overlooked. Not as easy as it sounds with the way social media work and competitions. I've seen that first hand a quite a few times with competitions been off radar then within hours go wild once a few pick up the scent.
It all depends what they majority of entry types of competitions doing. Random draws expect a bit of effort entering more competitions to pick up the same amont of wins. Or get smarter about them. They aren't all created equal. eg tagging comps etc etc. Also one of reasons may be harder to win. For random competitions they don't get much better odds then leaderboard with about 1/10 shot each month with around 40ish active members. Shh thou don't let that get out. lol
One good win can be better then dozens of prizes. @Samlot11 might agree that finding yourself a forte to work on can be more rewarding. WOL and creative entries which take more time and effort generally spread more slowly and attract less entries.
What you think @Samlot11 , doing your 1,000 comp challenge and the blog post help reassess your successful methods? :)
More people are doing comps as times are hard and everyone wants something for nothing so the odds are just stacked up against you. Plain and simple really. Its hard to win a F.B comp these days as everyone is on the band wagon. At the start of comps appearing on F.B it was easy to win, those days are gone.
@lemond like I tell everybody, if you stick with it long enough and strong enough you are bound to win! I have won prizes on Facebook with thousands of entries where as other times I have done a creative 25WOL entry on Facebook that I thought was a winner with only 20 other entrants and lost.
OK thanks, maybe it's just a general trend - you start off strong and it tails off! I do enter lots of comps not on this website. I get the impression either there are many more compers these days or e.g. if you've won once, they might rule you out next time to give others a chance
I agree you need to persistent and determined. There's luck and then there's statistics and may take a bit of dedication to win consistently some might get lucky a win a few things without much effort on the first few tries ,thou the majority (all the rest the entered that same comp etc) will have to keep trying. It took me a few months for the first prize a DVD and around 6 months before starting getting a few consistent wins and over a year and 1/2 for this site.
I won my ipad pro with keyboad with odds arounnd 1/3000. So never let the odds stop you enter. I don't expect that to happen to often. Sometimes knowing the rough odds you can estimate the effort required to give yourself a reasonable chance. One comp comes to mind where that probably helped.
Usualy FB comps somewhere about 300-500 about how many active aussie compers about , plus the core fanbase of the promoter. If the majority of competitions finding at that participation levels you need to enter a decent amount of competitons like that video you saw. Then it's pot luck for which prize you win if entering various prizes. It nice to have a few decent odds competitions and X fingers pick up a few consistent wins between long shots.
To win like 10 to 15 a month I'd place bets a decent amount were probably from creative competitions where having a forte or persistence with those would help. Either that were finding a lot of low odds draws or stategies to give yourself a decent chance.
Yes more might be doing competitions or at least from the popular promoters and if following the masses or what's just listed on competition sites and being "lazy" doesn't help your chances. What I'm saying you sometimes doing a bit of legwork to find specific prizes of interest and/or off radar. Occassionaly will come across a few when go scrounging about. Not something done for a while as takes a bit of time.
One factor is not just the growing trend in number of participants but also how easy to find regular competitions and how readily they circulate among the compers, especially on Facebook. You just need to keep an eye out out what's circulating about on FB. Pros and cons with FB easy to find competitions thou if they are low odds that could change in a blink of an eye. Get the impression that a lot dont regularily use the various sites and mainly focus what's circulating on FB. A few times seen competitions listed on sites would of expected a lot more entries giving me that impression.
Mixing it up a bit from various sources and search methods might help a touch. The con it takes bit of time to hunt down competitions off radar and no guarantees it will stay off radar for long. X fingers at least long enough to win once. :)
@Smalot11 lmao good luck. :) Strangely seems off the main comping radar quickly looking on FB where I tripped over it doing a mini general explore. Then checked elsewhere if was already posted and sure enough. I'm not noticing the usual suspects which I use as indicators if a competition has gone "wild". Of course will get attention with the value of the prize in the general public . It's amazing say on the JB-HI posts get masses of entries and prizes like that might get a fraction.
Sometimes I'll do a quick check of a facebook comp for the usual suspects and guage if gone wild especially if it's low entry. Most times don't bother as it becomes a hassle to remember to get back to them. One of factors for picking up some regular wins is finding a few regular off radar ones. Thou if a promoter is doing regular giveaways they don't stay that way for long.
You used to win what!!!! I have been on this site doing competitions for over 5 years and I haven't so much won a tram ticket! I am an old age pensioner and by doing these competitions is my only hope of ever again going on another holiday.... I suppose I can just hope that something may happen before I'm shuttled off this mortal coil. :-)
@Donald4564 Has the site being going that long? Hmm I haven't seen any competitions for tram tickets I'll have to keep an eye out for you. Best I can do at the moment is some rave tickets or for the tennis. :)
Thanks @bexibex you probably helped me a touch for winning a nice prize, regarding why not winning and doing a few things that should do more often. Sometimes you need to do a bit of scrounging about for nice competitions then pray they go relatively unnoticed.
I think..............................arrived home to find a package with a Google Home thingy, no note, pretty sure I did not buy one for myself, so that's a bonus present. I range Google to thank/clarify, but no joy they did not seem to know anything about it although it was their return to sender address, a real mystery as it is not the usual thing I enter, oh well, it's been a while since a win, so I'm happy.
Nice surprise! I received a prize like that 2 years ago but with no return address so I had to go back through all my entries to find out who to thank.
Receptionist at Google was not helpful at all as I really would like to thank someone for the prize, oh well, I'm stumped as I use the enter, forget and move on system.
@Smalot11, just curious how you went with your comping challenge! I remember that you were well on your way to lots of fantastic wins after winning so many! :) Happy new year to everyone too! :)
1-1000 comps entered from the 14.8 - 7.10. Won 23. 17 still to be drawn. Biggest prize won so far, new iPhone 7 128GB
1001-2000 comps entered from 9.10 - 27.11 Won 30, 42 still to be drawn. Biggest prize won so far, 10kg Whirlpool Washing Machine
Currently working on 2001-3000
2017 was my first full year comping, won a total of 163 prizes. Didn't start tracking comps entered until after I found the 1000 comp challenge.
I have found
* 20 comps a day can at times be quite challenging apart from xmas time where it becomes overwhelming trying to keep up :) * By keeping track I actually find it more enjoyable and can easily keep track of what I've entered * I need to dedicate 1-3 hours a day especially towards the more creative (25 WOL) answers to enter 20 per day * The more I enter the more I win
As a stay at home parent comping has provided so many experiences that my family wouldn't have had this year, it also means I can contribute in a small way to the family budget with some gift cards here and there. all of which I am very grateful for.
Now to win that new car in 2018 :)
Let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer
That's a very positive result! @smalot11, Congratulations on all your wins! :) Certainly beats the 4 that the author of that article won. Just one question if you don't mind, how do you track the competitions that you've entered without eating too much into valuable comping time? Yes, every win helps with the budget :) Here's to a fantastic year and a new car :) Happy New Year!
@fourleaf Thank you. Just a simple notebook with comp name, prize, prize value and draw date. Then going back and highlighting prizes won or prizes announced and drawn. I'm not sure if it would work for others but I find it the simplest method for me.
As for the 4/1000 wins I think he may have shot himself in the foot with the magazine comps he entered. If similar to That's Life or Take 5 in Australia even though your entering 56 comps you only have a chance at winning one because once your name is drawn you don't go back in the pool.
I really like the notebook idea, I often use one as well although I may have to get into the habit of using it again. I like the fact that it's portable as often I go and sit in my backyard (overgrown jungle) :) Yes could have tried to boost his daily total that way, those ones are difficult to win I think. :)
@fourleaf Yes I'm the same I might enter a few comps while I'm getting the kids from school or similar so easy just to make a note. And I think you're right it was an easy was to boost daily numbers :) Great minds hey hahaha
@lemond, I was lucky to sneak into the top 40, lol. Got 3's the last few days, ended up with a monthly tally of just over 140 for daily points. New month, new day, always live in hope.
@Try2win Lmao. Top 40 should almost be a given unless there was a slight influx of "active" members.
New year, new month, new hope and a new computer. :)
Finally got all the components together for nice computer which built Christmas morning. Now I actually read the screen clearly to see what I'm entering.
First to guess correctly or closest. They must of guessed that number before you.
How to Play Simply guess the number we have picked and win the prize. Every week, the first entry that picks the number or is the closest, wins! Playing the game is absolutely free.
