Thanks for tips and tricks @heidiho73. I like your 'Positive thinking' attitude. Good luck with winning a laptop :)

@heidiho73 Great tips. I find using bookmarks is a good fall back method for keeping track of competitions entered. Notepads I find are ineffective apart from maybe brainstorm creative comps as virtually all comps are online entry. If stick to using one browser for entering comps and bookmark before hitting the submit then append the closing date in a consistent manner eg "01/09/2017" it helps for checking back and avoiding double entry. i.e. the bookmark will show up when you revisit the page. This has help numerous times. Thou on the odd occassion you might find promoters reusing the same link. For various social media, daily entry etc I separate into separate folders etc month. The limitations are when a new month rolls over and got comps spanning months it gets a bit cumbersome. Also appending to the start of the book a consistent date in the format above allows for sorting of bookmarks easily. Most likely what preference you use comes down to the volume and types of comps entered. Good Luck

I haven't won anything in my life! I don't even have over $50.I get into debt to my parents a lot because of the stuff I buy. (Not always, and I usually just owe them $5-20).So I'm here to have some money to keep in pocket if I ever get in debt again.Cheers,Toby. ;-)

Totally off the wall topic, but does anyone know of any competitions directed at gay guys - I know there have been competitions for gay trip/holidays in the past, but have not come across any recently. Any tips for any current gay guys comps for trips, holidays or gay friendly stuff is appreciated.

I am trying so hard this month to crack the top ten. Even though I entered everything I'm eligible for and used all the newsletter links, no joy. So this month head down, click click clack! I am not aiming too high, just slowly sneak up a bit each month. I need to learn how to add comps to help everyone else. I have read some people are really frustrated at their leaderboard results. Don't give up, then you'll never get there. If there is a state that has a lot of state only comps some months that is hard to beat. Just remember there are a lot of us trying to be on top and don't forget it's fun having a challenge. Good luck this month everyone.
11 Nov 12:09 PM
@heidiho73 As long as you complete the major bonus which are mandatory to have a genuine chance you're in the running.-You will NEED to do every day the guessing game. (50 points)-NEED to click on the email newsletter bonus. (30 points)-Visit the home page daily where the competitions are listed to obtain your daily random points (1-10)-Tick off most if not all competitions posted during the current month before they EXPIRE or before the end of the month. As the guessing game has a bonus worth 50 points each day, if miss a day statistically is improbable for a top 10. Still may/likely make the Top 50 if miss only one day. That depends how many active members. Trend seems can miss one miss day currently. For the newsletter email bonus also virtually mandatory (30 points). It will be fairly obvious when that occurs. I.e. Should notice a jump in the leaderboard scores or a dramatic drop in your leaderboard position. Best to log into this site first the click on the bonus link within that newsletter email. The hard part maybe locating that email.Make sure visit the home page each day to collect your daily random points. Just a note for the first day of the month to activate the points system first click on a new comp posted then refresh the main comp page. That's an annoying feature which catches out new members.Only comps posted this month count towards the comps viewed tally. You can miss a few comps posted without too much effect. Thou could make the difference between few positions at the end of the month. It appears you might of missed a couple of competitions so far posted this month. You can use the filter by entered which will display competitions you haven't clicked. Note if was posted this month and already expired it shouldn't be displayed.Good luck :)
14 Nov 11:26 AM
Thank you so so much for that comprehensive answer. I am wondering now about the newsletter bonus. Why would it be hard to find the email?
14 Nov 9:33 PM
@heidiho73 Argh ... when you got 80,000+ emails between a couple of accounts finding those elusive important emails, especially the winning ones gets "challenging". Lesson is first create a separate comping account then don't then decide to switch back. You get twice as many spam emails. Thou the advantage is you can spot those easier when get them twice.Yeah found a winning email tonight. Nothing major just a PC game. Now if only had a decent PC to run it on.
01 Nov 12:05 PM
A new month and daily number is 3, when logged in thought it would be a 1 .. surprised to receive 3 .. not sure why I even bother ... so many years since I've joined and yet to see myself in the top 3, managed to get into top 5.. must have been blue moon.
02 Nov 5:34 PM
@Anna2077 lmao I was about last month month for the daily random points out of the members that did all the major bonuses. Probably first in the number of comps ticked off if that counts. Any luck this month I'll bounce back. At least for this month got double guesses for the guessing game to look forward to. Never complaining, I'm just handballing back your lovely daily points enjoy. :) It's way too early to get pessimistic or optiministic for the leaderbarod. At least you could of waited until about day 14-21 when start get a good impression if genuinely still in with chance. You be hoping to be around 90 daily points for 14 days or for 21 days around 135. I look at how a each 7 day period where an average around 45 points for each week places roughly the top 1/2 dozen. It only takes a decent run for a few days to turn things around quickly. If I'm ever complaining it's about my PC. I wouldn't wish it on anyone as it's a form of torture. I won't be handballing that when I finally retire it to the scrape heap. I could do with some nice small cash wins this month to help towards the budget for a new PC. X fingers. Good luck,. :)
05 Nov 9:42 AM
@lemond can you please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org as I want to talk some stats with you
11 Nov 12:14 PM
@spyglass will get back. Currently my pc is virtually unusable. It's not up to researching and doing any major reading. Sort of feel I'm using a blinds man cane to use it with major display issues. Hopefully will sort out a new PC by the end of the month. Educated guess thinking your qu might be financial/stock market related. Just remember past performance is no indicator of future performance. :)

@admin I've sent a few messages regarding transfer of Combux to PayPal which have gone unanswered and/or unseen. When will this be retified please? If anyone else is experiencing this "issue" leave a comment below.
22 Oct 7:15 PM
I'm still waiting, no reply, has not even read all my messages, although I am using my cousins paypal as mine was compromised last year and I will never use it again, mmm, still a good site for the mad comps, patience is the virtue :)
22 Oct 9:38 PM
@moreofachance Patience is a virtue. Keeps you out of trouble while things sort themselves out.I have almost infinite patience. Think cricket umpiring and one match batted by day and half 328 deliveries for 43 runs. So patience with a pinch of stubbornness. Lmao I think the site has had a server move that wasn't smooth. I got a response on FB. Maybe try there as well. Finally I'm out of my misery as my PC died today. Long long overdue. So... last months win is going to come in handy. Damn one finger typing on an iPad until can get a new PC. Won a couple of pounds one regular 'sponsor'. Hmm I need to pick some lucky lotto numbers from lottoland U.K.
23 Oct 12:18 PM
@Lemond patience was not needed, I was also paid two days ago, just didn't realise it, as I said, I love this site for the mad comps and the leaderboard and guessing game are a bloody bonus, I've had a good run in 15 months, twice won and 3rd and also a guessing game, Thankyou @alex @admin, happy Dayz r here

Funniest comp of the year goes to: https://www.facebook.com/UbisoftAustralia/videos/10150912194759991/You've still got time to enter. Lmao
12 Nov 3:43 PM
@Smalot11 What car? I don't usually enter car competitions. Which comp was that for? There is a slight off chance with someone with the same name. I've come across that recently. I won a inflatible ride on toy designed for toddlers which I've gifted. I had to double check that I had entered that comp. Yeah was bookmarked. Argh rarely would I enter such a comp there must of been another prize in the same comp was interested in.
13 Nov 8:13 AM
Where you had to keep your hand on the car. Or was that for an other prize?A wins a win :) Nice of you to gift it onto someone.Good luck on winning a new PC this week!
13 Nov 3:13 PM
@Smalot11 lol that's was for AFL Grand Final tickets a few years back. Argh lasted for hours then they favoured someone. Ended up with a a cap I've still got. :) Thought I''ve missed an winning email etc. I still reckon half the luck is finding those winning notifications before it's too late. @toxicgherkin :( I think will end up buying a PC in the next few weeks. I can't old out too much longer waiting for the end of month draws.
11 Oct 9:30 AM
Silly question but could someone explain how the point system works
19 Oct 10:38 PM
@gaseja Hmm has anyone had a replay back regarding the not receiving their transfer of Combux to PayPal? It doesn't appear Alex is reading messsages.
22 Oct 7:18 PM
@Lemond same here, messages not read and that's about it :)
23 Oct 12:20 PM
All good now, I missed the email, was paid same time as you guys, thanks @admin
10 Oct 10:45 PM
A warning re PuraChoice washing machine competition on Facebook ...The competition is layered ie there is more than one step, three in fact, and they don't tell you that in the opening step.1. Like, comment, share the Facebook page2. You get a private message to say now you have to enter your name and email3. Then you get another message and email to say now you have to buy a product and upload a photo If you are happy doing that, all is good. But I have a dislike for being asked to jump through extra hoops that were not made clear at the beginning enabling them to harvest contact information when you may be disinclined to complete all the tasks.
22 Oct 11:00 PM
@spyglass Looks like the site had major maintenance this morning. Hang on you won last month leaderboard there's a win and probably won a leaderboard around last year in May. Cash is king beats most prizes :) if you have enough computer under the mattress should ok to cash out the $50. I'm still trying to reach that level for a 3rd place $25 won a few months back.
24 Oct 12:10 PM
@Lemond yes, I was meaning that his site is the only place where I seem to win anything. I've had a good run in the last 12 months, so I'll take that as a win.....but there is nothing wrong with being greedy so a win from another site is long overdue!
26 Oct 11:58 PM
@spyglass I know that feeling this year though won a few small prizes this month a $20 Bunnings, $100 Coles and a bottle of cognac which will pick up this weekend.Sort of ironically that the comps that win are from the comp site and. It from entering the comps. Damn typo last post mean be compbux under the bed thou do keep my old pc parts under there as well. It's a time for a spring clean.
08 Oct 6:13 PM
@admin Was the guessing game drawn this morning? I was sure 304 was last weeks draw. Usually the results are posted each Sunday morning around 3am.
09 Oct 8:06 PM
Thanks I see now updated. Some gremlins in the system this last week. :)

How do you check back whether you have win anything? especially on facebook if they just announce your name and expect you to contact them yourself? and I actually don't have any comping friend on facebook :(
30 Sep 4:36 PM
@Lemond Thank you for your tips. You're very very helpful.
30 Sep 6:14 PM
@indriasun Doh Richmond won by tooooooo much. Was right on the money for one comp at half time. :(I think all I read was tips, god I've definately got footy tipping on the brain atm. lmao. The one thing searching for your name won't find is when the promoter posts an image or video for winner announcements. If someone has shared it to the group usually they will put in the subject "Congratulations XYZ". If members keep to that standard I find easy to spot in the subject headings for my FB email notifications.
03 Oct 9:35 AM
Hey, I've tried to join this Competition Winners Australia, but it's been pending for a few days now. Apparently people already in the group are able to send joining requests out to others, is that true? I really wanna join, haha!
30 Sep 9:03 AM
I've won a $100 coles card. Finally the end of my Facebook comp drought since January. Provisionally appears the my stars have aligned with a Steven Bradbury effort for the leader board. Contgrats to the other leader board winners. I thought be extremely close finish. Woot Woot. Now X fingers for Richmond to win by around 9 points for the footy tipping. Go Tigers!!!!
30 Sep 8:47 PM
@Smalot11 :) I don't think much luck with allllllllllllllllll the footy tipping comps I've done over the last week. Argh I'm footy tipped out must of done about 40+ of them. Bit like doing all the XMAS ones, at least they only go for a few days. You need to on the ball or end up only left with picking enormous margins as most where first to guess closest. If could do that over again would be bit more organised how to locate them.Damn one was for for $250 cash with only ONE Richmond guess. I was spot on at the half time margin if that counts :( Just had to decide higher or lower then that one guess. Hmmm still can hope they don't claim it in time. "wishful' thinkingSo if do a bit of leg work and hunt around you can find the occassional very decent odds off the main comping radar. IMO my impression most of the Aussie compers on FB rarely do any as see the same ones circulating about. Really it's only the first couple times a promoter runs some competitions they are low key after that they become known. Won $9.33 today from Draftstars free entry comp to add to my run of cash wins. Along with approximatelyr 10,000 winners, virtually everyone that entered that today won. :)
01 Oct 11:27 PM
Nice win lemond!
02 Oct 12:47 AM
@surferboy83 Thanks Yeah small wins, I'll have to keep rattling that tin can for luck. :)Should be another $10 tonight from Draftstars from the free entry comp. Appears you require a balance of $20 to cash out easily, x fingers should just be over that now. Its been nice weekend with 4 wins with either coles/cash :)
30 Sep 1:30 AM
I've won $500 Tixstar voucher yay! I love this site and have won quite a bit :) Do you think it's ethical to sell the prize? I'm willing to part with it for $300.
30 Sep 12:34 PM
Thanks all, @Lemond thanks for your advice, yeah I find it is not easy to sell things and I'm actually quite afraid of other's judgment when I get it for free but trying to make money out of it. I can see that some people don't think it's acceptable although I believe it's my right to do so, moreover there's some effort involved. I can see that this Tixstar voucher can be given/sold. Let me know if any of you wants to get this $500 voucher for $300. Thanks all. https://www.tixstar.com.au/
30 Sep 12:54 PM
@indriasun God I wouldn't worry, at times can be heated debate. When you get to understand the various reasons you can't be too quick to judge. You'll probably find those judging were eyeing off that prize etc :). I wish you could pick and choose what you want to win it's a bit of a lucky dip. Stick your hand in and could be keys to a new car or box of tissues. Personally I keep (most times) to comps with prizes want to win and lately more focused on cash/grocery vouchers. Occassional some eye candy might lure me off the that path. So overall if win the odds are something really looking for. I pass over like 90% of comps saves wasted time checking back on those. Reminds me I need to find someone from South Australia or wants to win a holiday 5 nights accomodation without airfares, if it hasn't closed and withdraw my entry. Lasted I checked had few entries. I think if still open be the 2pm i.e. the first bounce of the footy. :)
01 Oct 11:29 PM
Congrats on the win!

Half the excitement is thinking about what could be won, also love seeing other people win. It's amazing to see how many millions of dollars of prize are up for offer each month when you really start looking

Hi Compers!I've got an interview with Rowan Barber, a Competitions.com.au member. In this interview Rowan Barber shares his passion for competitions, tips, a unique system for keeping track and that time he won a trip to New Zealand. Enjoy!http://blog.competitions.com.au/tips/interview-with-winner-and-member-rowan-barber/Thanks,Nicole
22 Sep 3:47 PM
Great interview. It seems to be getting harder and harder to win these days as everyone is doing it. If you think your entry was the best it seems the less likely to win. I've entered thinking that my entry is fantastic but win on the ones that I don't think are very good. I don't know what the judges are thinking or what they are looking for. Most entries like Rowan's are pretty common these days though as most people do/say the same thing.
24 Sep 12:30 PM
Nice to see a winning answer. It is a rarity that companies publish them.

Thanks Nicole! Good luck all for winning some competitions this week!

Same here too - I did the interview and it was put into the blog, but received no points. thought maybe it was just me. Thanks Try2win for bringing it to admins attention.

I think I need to move to sunny Queensland so many competitions to enter up there! Having a very dry patch in NSW...suppose I am a winner with property prices...ha, ha.
25 Sep 5:25 PM
@Anna2077 lmao you're way to funny. But isn't life just one big competition?
27 Sep 10:10 AM
@lemond my last win was a good one exactly one year ago...I went to the Melbourne cup on a Carnival Cruise was a wonderful trip, but not a thing have I won in 2017 :(
27 Sep 1:04 PM
@KittyKat65 Wow nice one. Sounds like would of been an awesome day. You could use that wonderful day as inspiration for other comps to turn your luck around. :)That's one great thing about competitions you get the chance to experience things you wouldn't usually do or afford. If really lucky win something urgently need.Well one great win or a whole lot of small ones.... Hmm hard choice depends on the prize, thou I do prefer winning cash or grocery vouchers lately. This year seem to winning small cash wins. I think would of won around $250 cash from a half dozen comps since Januaary so nothing to complain about. Cash is always king and a nice prize however small. For why in a drought? IMO depends on how many competitions entering and what things specially looking to win etc. As a few compers have pointed out it seems increasingly difficult to win. It really depends where and your looking for finding competitions and what prizes liked to win. On Facebook for example all the Aussie compers are one degree of separation from each other. Mainly linked via a few dozen with major comping contact lists (for the tagging comps or likes etc). They get shared around very quicklly and your chances get greatly diminished. The pros and cons of even slightly attached to those groups.Sometimes a random explore to find prizes of interest that might be off main comping radar, might help improve your chances. I should get in the habit of checking for more local comps. Or you can concerntrate on a forte for creative entry comps. Ideally if got a forte and also find off the radar comps your chances start looking great. Some compers do exceptional well just focusing on their niche creative competitions. X fingers for a decent win by XMAS.Good Luck.:)
