Entry is only open to Australian residents who:
a) are a student in Grades 3 to 8 in Australia. Individuals can be in the relevant Grades in a primary or secondary school or they can be home schooled in these year levels;
b) are available to attend the Awards Ceremony (defined below) for the promotion which will be held in Sydney on Friday 3 October 2014, if selected as a Finalist; and
c) can travel (together with their parent/guardian) to the USA (and have or can obtain all appropriate travel documentation), within six (6) months of the Awards Ceremony, if selected as the Major Prize winner;
HOW TO ENTER:
To enter, an Eligible Entrant must complete one (1) of the following entry methods:
(a) ONLINE: Visit www.littlebigidea.com.au and: (i) complete the online promotional entry form, including their name, the full name of one (1) teacher from their primary or secondary school (or their home educator if home schooled) that they would like to nominate (and whom will be awarded a prize in the event the Eligible Entrant is deemed one of the winners), the name of their primary or secondary school (if applicable), the name and contact details of a parent/guardian, and an answer in 200 words or less to the promotional question: "What is your brilliant idea for the future?; and (ii) if they wish, upload a picture, illustration or a drawing of their invention/idea or a video no longer than one (1) minute (any video entries over one-minute will be deemed invalid and will not be considered for the competition) which outlines their invention/idea in more detail; and (iii) submit the online entry form so that it is received by 11:59pm AEST on 5 September 2014. For the avoidance of doubt, Eligible Entrants do not have to submit a picture, drawing, illustration or a video with their entry and this step on the entry form is optional. OR
(b) MAIL: Download and print an entry form from www.littlebigidea.com.au and: (i) complete the form, including their name, the full name of one (1) teacher from their primary or secondary school (or their home educator if home schooled) that they would like to nominate (and whom will be awarded a prize in the event the Eligible Entrant is deemed one of the winners), the name of their primary or secondary school (if applicable), the name and contact details of a parent/guardian, and an answer in 200 words or less to the promotional question: "What is your brilliant idea for the future? ; and (ii) if they wish, attach a picture, illustration or a drawing of their invention/idea or enclose a DVD or USB containing a video no longer than one (1) minute (any video entries over one-minute will be deemed invalid and will not be considered for the competition) which outlines their invention/idea in more detail; and (iii) send together to: Attention: littleBIGidea, Level 9, 321 Exhibition St, Melbourne Victoria 3000, so that it is posted by last mail on 5 September 2014. In any event, must be received by the promoter within 1 week of 5 September 2014. For the avoidance of doubt, Eligible Entrants do not have to send a picture, drawing, illustration or a video with their entry and this is optional. Please note that postal entries will not be returned.
Eligible Entrants must have the permission of their teacher or home educator (as applicable) and their primary/secondary school, as well as their parent/legal guardian to enter and to nominate them on the entry form. The idea/invention submitted in the entry must be realistic and hypothetically possible to implement. The idea/invention and the answer to the promotion question must be the original work of the Eligible Entrant created without assistance from their parent/guardian or any other person.
PRIZES:
Each Major Prize Winner will receive a trip to the United States of America for themselves and their parent/guardian, valued at up to AU$10,085 depending on date and point of departure ("Major Prize"). Each Major Prize consist of the following:
Two (2) return economy flights to Miami USA from the Major Prize Winner's nearest capital city airport in Australia. Airline will be selected by the Promoter in its discretion;
Seven (7) nights' accommodation at Wyndham Bonnett Creek in a two (2) bedroom suite or similar if there are no vacancies available at Wyndham Bonnett Creek during the winner's preferred travel dates;
2 x day passes to the NASA Kennedy Space Centre, Florida (see the Kennedy Space Centre website http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/ for details);
2 x day pass to Epcot Theme Park, Disneyworld Florida (see https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/destinations/epcot/ for details)
2 x tickets to Orlando Science Centre (see osc.org for details)
2 x tickets to Ripley's Believe it or Not (see Orlando.ripleys.com for details); and
AU$2,500 spending money, awarded in the form of a cash passport issued by www.travelex.com.
Each Major Prize Winner and their parent/ guardian must make their own way to/from their nearest capital city airport, and organise all other transfers not mentioned above, at their own cost. The Major Prize must be taken within twelve (12) months of the Major Prize Winner announcement at the Awards Ceremony. The parent/guardian of each Major Prize Winner will be required to contact the Promoter and give at least three (3) months prior notice of the dates they would like to travel (so that sufficient time is allowed for travel arrangements to be made). Major Prizes must be booked through the Promoter's travel service. Each Major Prize is also subject to the conditions specified in clause 21.
