Gavin Weald has returned to his rebuilt house with his six-year-old daughter, Oc�an, and their dog, Suzy. It’s been a year since the flood swept through their home in Trinidad and devastated their lives. Gavin is trying to soldier on, but as the rainy season returns he is woken by his daughter, who cries out in her sleep as her nightmares about the flood return. Then one day he does the only thing he feels able to do: he takes his daughter and Suzy down to the marina, to his old boat, Romany, which he hasn’t sailed in years, and they embark upon a voyage to make their peace with the waters. They head for the Caribbean archipelago – and for adventure.
