Win 1 of 5 double passes to a special advance screening of The Bolshoi - Thanks to the Russian Resurrection Film Festival 2017, we have five admit-two passes to a special special advance screening of The Bolshoi on Thursday, October 19, 6:30PM at Event Cinemas Myer Centre, Brisbane! One of the most anticipated films of 2017. Renowned director Valery Todorovsky (The Lover, Hipsters) provides us with a glimpse inside the Bolshoi Theatre and the lives of its graceful dancers. Julia is a young provincial girl from a poor family performing in the streets of a mining town. Her big break comes when former ballet dancer Pototsky sees her potential and takes her to the Moscow State Academy of Choreography to audition. Julia’s new life is an exhilarating rollercoaster. She must overcome the challenges set by her teachers, provoked by their own personal struggles. Julia is incredibly talented. She can become a great ballerina. But she must give up everything: her family, her first love, friendship. Her only ally in this maze is her mentor, Beletskaya (wonderfully performed by the great, Alisa Freyndlikh), who instils in her students an inspiring willingness to succeed. This is a captivating coming-of-age-story about a group of ballet dancers striving to be selected to perform with the Bolshoi Theatre Company. The Bolshoi is a majestic treasure for the big screen scored by none other than Tchaikovsky. The Russian Resurrection Film Festival screens at Event Cinemas Myer Centre from November 1 – November 8.
