Win $500 - The first prize of $5000 could be won by a Tasmanian aged between 16 and 19 for making a 30-second road safety advertisement. The competition is part of next year’s Road Safety Week from 1 May to 8 May. the second prize is $2000 and third is an RACT package of five driving lessons and roadside assistance. Entries opened on Monday, 7 December 2015 and will close on at midnight on Thursday 8 April 2016. For more details about what you need to do to enter, see the Terms and Conditions. Last year’s finalists are here. National Road Safety Week , founded and supported by the SARAH Group, coincides with the United Nations Road Safety Week that’s part of the Decade of Road Safety. Next year the Week is from 1May to 7 May. The Road Safety Advisory Council, Tasmania Police, the RACT and Southern Cross Television are planning the Week’s activities in Tasmania. Road Safety Week is to increase awareness about the need for all road users to be safe and courteous on the roads to reduce the chances of crashes that could result in death or serious injury. It is also about commemorating those who have been killed or injured on our roads. Last year, 36 people died in road crashes in Tasmania and 260 were injured.
