The Godfather of Soul’s unforgettable show has been reimagined for the Brisbane Powerhouse stage, complete with the velvet-smooth vocals of ARIA Award-winning Gary Pinto backed by six-piece live jazz band The Champions of Soul. Songs and Times of Sam Cooke draws from the artist’s massive repertoire of US top 40 hits including ‘You Send Me’, ‘Cupid’, ‘Chain Gang’, ‘Wonderful World’, ‘Another Saturday Night’ and ‘Twistin’ the Night Away’. Credited by many as the inventor of soul music itself and regarded by Aretha Franklin as a genius, Sam Cooke’s blend of gospel, soul and pop not only revolutionised a genre, it was a sound that spurred a movement.
