But now thanks to Swedish director Lukas Moodysson (Show Me Love, Together, Lilya 4-Ever) it’s back – well, kind of. WE ARE THE BEST! follows three best friends with a passion for punk music but, much like people who still think flares are in fashion, they’re alone. Set in early ’80s Stockholm, WE ARE THE BEST! is an energetic and inspiring film that touches on topics we can all relate to – insecurities, unrequited love, embarrassing parents and times in life when we’ve said, “Fuck you all. My haircut is awesome.” A true exploration of the human experience, and those awkward teenage years especially, this film reminds us how fun it is to break the rules. Despite everyone telling them punk is dead, these badass girls couldn’t care less.
