By entering this Competition, you (‘you’ or ‘entrant’) acknowledge and agree that you have read these Terms and Conditions and that by entering the Competition you are deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions. Any information on how to enter and prizes forms part of these Terms and Conditions.
Eligible Participants
1. Subject to paragraph 2, entry is free and open to Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents aged 18 years or older.
2. A person is ineligible to win this Competition if that person, at the time of entry or at any time during the Competition:
(a) is a Director or employee (which includes race day officials) of any of the following:
i. Racing Victoria;
ii. Melbourne Racing Club;
iii. Victoria Racing Club;
iv. Moonee Valley Racing Club; or
v. Country Racing Victoria;
(b) is an Immediate Family Member of a Director or employee of either Racing Victoria or the Melbourne Racing Club;
(c) is an employee or Director of an associate or group company of Racing Victoria including but not limited to Racing.com;
(d) is a supplier of goods or services directly related to the administration of this Competition, or a Director or employee thereof;
(e) is a licensed jockey or apprentice jockey under the thoroughbred Rules of Racing in an Australian State and/or Territory and/or New Zealand;
(f) is a licensed trainer of a horse(s) nominated for the 2020 All-Star Mile;
(g) is serving a period of disqualification or warning off from racing under the thoroughbred, greyhound or harness Rules of Racing in an Australian State and/or Territory and/or New Zealand;
(h) has previously served a period of disqualification or warning off from racing under the thoroughbred, greyhound or harness Rules of Racing in an Australian State and/or Territory and/or New Zealand;
(i) is an Immediate Family Member of a person described in (g) or (h) above;
(j) is serving a period of suspension of two (2) months or more under the thoroughbred, greyhound or harness Rules of Racing in an Australian State and/or Territory and/or New Zealand;
(k) is a veterinarian that is involved in the care and/or treatment of a horse nominated for the 2020 All-Star Mile, either currently or in the previous six (6) months;
(l) is an individual who won (i.e. was a Finalist in) the 2019 All-Star Mile Fan Competition run by Racing Victoria;
(m) is –
i. a Member of Parliament or employed within a Member’s private office;
ii. a person appointed to hold any office pursuant to the Racing Act 1958 or Gambling Regulation Act 2003; or
iii. an employee of the Victorian Government with any responsibility, authority or other association in connection with the administration of the Racing Act 1958 or Gambling Regulation Act 2003; or
(n) is an Immediate Family Member of a person described at (m) above,
each an Ineligible Person.
In this paragraph 2, Immediate Family Member means any of the following: spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent or step-parent.
3. Without limiting paragraph 2, except for the following, all persons (including those described in paragraph 2), are permitted to vote in this Competition:
(a) persons currently serving a period of disqualification, warning off or suspension under the thoroughbred, greyhound or harness Rules of Racing in an Australian State and/or Territory and/or New Zealand.
4. For the avoidance of doubt, an Ineligible Person who votes in the Competition will not receive an entry into any draw and is ineligible to receive any prize in this Competition (which includes, without limitation, being ineligible to be drawn as an Owner Ambassador or Wild Card Owner Ambassador).
How to Enter
1. To enter the Competition, you must register and vote for one horse from the list of horses nominated for the 2020 All-Star Mile that is published on the website www.allstarmile.com.au during the period between when registration and voting opens at 12.01am AEDST on Thursday 16 January 2020 and when registration and voting closes at 11.59pm AEDST on Sunday 16 February 2020 (‘Voting Period’) and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
2. All times and dates in these Terms and Conditions are times and dates in Melbourne, Victoria which may be AEST of AEDST depending on the relevant date.
3. To enter, entrants must, during the Voting Period, visit the website www.allstarmile.com.au, locate the online registration form, complete all requested details including full name, gender, date of birth, postcode, mobile contact number and email address and:
(a) vote for one horse from the list of horses nominated for the 2020 All-Star Mile published on the website www.allstarmile.com.au; and
(b) submit a fully completed and validated registration form,
each a ‘Provisional Entrant’.
4. To finalise their entry into the Competition, each Provisional Entrant must validate their entry as follows:
(a) by submitting the code sent to the entrant via SMS (using the Provisional Entrant’s mobile contact number provided via the online registration form) within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt of the SMS code;
or, if you fail to verify via the above clause (a);
(b) by following the process indicated in the SMS and/or email reminder/s (that will be sent to the Provisional Entrant’s mobile contact number and/or email as provided via the online registration form) before the end of the Voting Period.
Provisional Entrants who fail to verify their entry as above will not be eligible to enter or win the Competition.
10. Each entrant may only vote and enter the Competition through the above fan voting format once; multiple entries are not permitted. Each vote will be recorded in the pool of votes relating to the horse that has received the vote. If for any reason, whether by injury or otherwise, a horse (or horses) nominated for the 2020 All-Star Mile is withdrawn during the Voting Period (Withdrawn Horse), any vote(s) cast for a Withdrawn Horse during the Voting Period will be void. Any person who has voted for a Withdrawn Horse (including any Provisional Entrant) will not be permitted to submit a revised or supplementary vote and therefore will be ineligible to win the Competition.
Determination of Top Ten Horses
11. On or before Wednesday 19 February 2020 the top ten horses as voted by the public, who have provisionally accepted a place in the 2020 All-Star Mile field, will be determined by the Promoter in order of votes received (from most votes received to least votes received) (‘Top Ten Horses’).
12. In the event of a tie, or ties in the number of votes recorded, the horses will enter the field based on career prizemoney earned (excluding bonuses) at the time of the determination until ten horses have been selected.
