The Home Design Magazine Renovation of the Year Awards is a competition that celebrates the renovations completed by homeowners, showcasing the positive outcomes these projects have had on family life.

Who can enter the competition?

Any homeowner in Australia or New Zealand who has completed a renovation since January 1, 2015, is eligible to enter. Renovation professionals can also enter on behalf of their past customers.

What is the closing date for entries?

The closing date for entries is 5:00 PM on July 17, 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.

How can participants enter the competition?

Participants must complete an official online entry form and submit a minimum of eight digital images of their renovation project. The images should be high-quality JPEG files.

What are the prizes awarded in the competition?

The total prize pool is $9,750, which includes:

: A Big Ass Fans 60” Haiku Coastal fan, valued at $1,895.

Additionally, all finalists will receive a trophy and a certificate, while involved professionals will also receive a certificate.

What is the assessment criteria for selecting the winner?

Entries will be judged based on:
1. A 100-word description detailing why the entrant loves their renovation (25% weight).
2. The quality of imagery showcasing the renovation (25% weight).
3. Visible smart design ideas (25% weight).
4. The inspirational quality of the entry to other renovators (25% weight).

What happens if the entry is not of high quality?

If an entry is deemed to lack quality, the judges and Universal Media Co may choose not to grant finalist positions. Only one winner will be selected.

How will finalists and winners be notified?

Finalists and the overall winner will be notified by email.

What media coverage can entrants expect?

Entrants will receive media coverage in Home Design Magazine, on CompleteHome.com.au, and through associated social media channels.

Are there any restrictions on entry?

Employees and immediate relatives of Universal Media Co are not eligible to enter the competition.
