If you’re in need of a heady dose of girl power, award-winning writer Claire Christian’s new fury-fuelled dramedy Lysa and the Freeborn Dames is that and so much more! Based at the time of Trump’s rise to power, the play centres around frustrated 19-year-old Lysa King. After spending a year in the big smoke and witnessing women’s marches and the #MeToo movement, Lysa returns home to discover that her tiny hometown seems to have missed the memo. Taking matters into her own hands, she organises a massive protest on the same night as the biggest event of the year – a football game and booze-fest – only to find that just three of her mates show up.
